What is a DAF?

If you already use a Donor-Advised Fund (DAF), you know how powerful it can be: a flexible way to turn charitable dollars you’ve already set aside into meaningful impact.

For those new to the idea, a DAF is like a charitable savings or investment account letting you contribute when it makes sense for you, receive an immediate tax deduction, and then recommend grants to nonprofits you care about, like C-SPAN, whenever you're ready.

Your DAF contribution to C-SPAN fuels non-partisan, unfiltered access to government proceedings, ensuring that millions of Americans can stay informed about the workings of democracy. By giving through your DAF, you directly support public service programming that brings transparency to government and fosters an engaged, educated society.

How You Can Give

If you’re familiar with DAFs, the process is simple: just recommend a grant to C-SPAN through your provider.

    At C-SPAN, we believe an informed citizenry is vital for democracy. For over 40 years, we've provided bipartisan, unfiltered political coverage, funded by our cable and satellite partners—without a dime of government funding.

    As fewer people subscribe to cable and satellite services, diversifying our funding becomes crucial to continue offering unfiltered coverage of Congress, the White House, the Supreme Court, and more. Your support ensures C-SPAN remains a reliable source for government proceedings, accessible on both traditional TV and digital platforms, allowing you to watch whenever and wherever you consume news.

    100% of your donation to C-SPAN supports:

    * Delivering extensive unfiltered coverage of government proceedings.

    * Enhancing and maintaining our acclaimed video library, which provides free, searchable access to nearly 300,000 hours of in-depth political, historical, and nonfiction content.

  1. Are donations to C-SPAN tax-deductible?

    Yes! As a qualified 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization under the National Cable Satellite Corporation dba C-SPAN, with Tax ID # 84-0751854, your donations are tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law. You will receive a confirmation email or letter acknowledging your donation, which can serve as your official tax receipt.

    Online: You can make a secure donation quickly and easily at c-span.org/donate. Payment options include credit/debit cards, PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Venmo.

    Donor-Advised Funds (DAF): If you're giving through a DAF, please include C-SPAN's legal name (National Cable Satellite Corporation dba C-SPAN) and our Tax ID # 84-0751854 to ensure your gift is properly directed. A DAF offers flexibility and tax benefits. Be sure to note if your gift is meant for a specific campaign, such as our Founders' Day campaign or other special initiatives.
